Comprehensive package for farmers
During the meeting, a comprehensive package was announced, including:
- Establishment of Punjab Kisan Bank
- Green Tractor Scheme
- Local manufacture of harvesters and agricultural implements
- Oilseed Promotion Programme
- Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also introduced Kisan Bank and Kisan Package to offer easy loans to farmers. Implementation of solar-powered tube wells and drip irrigation systems, both of which are crucial for modernizing Punjab’s agricultural infrastructure, were also discussed.
Subsidy on Tractors in Punjab
Major subsidies for farmers in the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme include:
- 70% subsidy on small tractors
- 50% subsidy on big tractors
- After Nawaz Sharif’s proposal, the government has decided to provide 10 thousand tractors under this scheme. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed that the first phase of the scheme should be completed in one year, there is a plan to increase the number of available tractors every year.
